The Baroque church of San Michele has an internal unique environment, where three altars are placed: the main one and the two along the side walls. Through two S-shape stairs close to the main altar you can descend into the crypt where, according to tradition, the relics of St. Nicholas were deposited temporarily by Abbot Elia. By a narrow passage formed in the counter you can instead access the archaeological excavation carried out during the renovation of the church in the 80s of last century: here you can find the remains of a pre-existing structure, probably identified with the church of St. Benedict, belonging eponymous monastery founded in the tenth century.
