The Fountain of the Four Horses is the fountain in Parco Federico Fellini, at Marina Centro, near the Grand Hotel: opened in 1928, it is one of the symbols of seaside Rimini.
The large round basin stands for the sea. Out of the water rise four sea horses that spout jets from their nostrils and hold up a smaller basin on their heads, from which one last jet shoots up. It is the work of the Rimini sculptor Filogenio Fabbri.
The fountain survived the war but not the post-war years: it was dismantled, three horses ended up in Parco Marecchia and the basin was demolished in 1954, in the years when Rimini also pulled down the Kursaal. It only returned to its place in 1983, thanks to the persistence of Umberto Bartolani and the sculptor's daughter, Fausta Fabbri.
At the base, a plaque from 1987 remembers Ugo Stentorei, the last person to restore it.
