Ageno Jewelery is one of the antique goldsmiths shops that are located under the arches of the ancient Palazzo della Ragione (which later became the Palladian Basilica) since 1400. The area is the historic "goldsmiths' quarter" which in part has been preserved until today.
Franz Joseph Ageno, grandfather of the current owner, trained as a jeweler in one of these workshops-lab and participated in the construction of the famous crown and breastplate of the Madonna of Monte Berico. He became independent in 1909 and founded one of the first goldsmith factories in Vicenza .
In 1927 he took over the shop and give it to his son Oswald, father of today's owner Franco, who took over in 1968. Ageno Jewelry is now in at its third generation and is a historical witness of the economy of the city.
