Experience a guided walk in the heart of Vicenza, an elegant city of Palladian palaces and masterpieces. With a licensed local guide, you will explore the historic old town following a complete and easily walkable itinerary, enriched with maps and charts to understand the context, history, and transformations of the city. The meeting point is at Porta Castello, the entrance to the medieval walls, a few minutes' walk from the station. After a brief historical overview, you will begin the main part of the route along Corso Palladio, a large pedestrian thoroughfare lined with stately homes. A short distance away, you will reach Piazza Duomo and the Cathedral: when possible, depending on the time, admission to the church is planned. The walk continues towards the Barche district, an ancient commercial hub linked to the river harbor: among waterways and Gothic palaces, the atmosphere is reminiscent of Venice. A few steps away lies the lively Piazza dei Signori, the heart of the city's power and commerce, where the Basilica Palladiana, Palladio's first great work, stands out. Opposite, the Loggia del Capitanio dialogues with the Basilica and tells the story of the architect's artistic evolution. You will then cross Contrà Porti, one of the most scenic streets, full of Gothic buildings and stories of illustrious figures. From here, you will reach the Church of Santa Corona, a treasure trove of art and memory, before returning towards the end of the Corso to Piazza Matteotti, with Palazzo Chiericati and the exciting finale at the Teatro Olimpico, the last work of the genius Palladio and the perfect stop to end the tour.
