The city owes this museum to the passion and taste of American art collector Mitchell Wolfson Jr., who has strong, long-lasting ties to Italy. The Wolfsonian houses a selection of pieces from his personal collection, which he donated to the city, and which leads visitors on a fascinating and unusual tour through painting, sculpture, decorative and Italian propaganda art forms from 1880 to 1945, ranging from Eclecticism, to Art Nouveau, to Art Déco, to Rationalism.
