Certainly the most romantically inspiring of the entire Genoese coast, this fascinating promenade stretches over two kilometres of rocky seashore between Nervi’s diminutive harbour and the tiny village of Capolungo. This is the place in Genoa where town and sea meet most closely and intimately. On sunny winter days the promenade is beautiful and enjoyable thanks to particularly mild weather. In summer, the small bathing establishments wedged between the rocks and the green-blue water of the tiny inlets are relaxing retreats for city-dwellers and fleeting tourists alike. However, the Nervi Promenade is just as fascinating on grey autumn days when the warm breath of the south-easterly Scirocco wind can be felt, and the waves break up into rippling froth that dashes against the salty rocks. The promenade is excellent for joggers and strollers or just to sit and enjoy the scent of the sea and of the surrounding vegetation. From here visitors can access the Parks of Nervi, with their tall trees, squirrels and a wonderful rose garden. Alternatively, they may choose to sit at the little tables of one of the bars, have a quiet drink while gazing at the horizon or watching the gulls vault above the powerful outline of the Groppallo Tower, built to defend the coastline from Barbary pirates back in the 16th century or above Marinella House, a true pearl of the Rationalist architectural style.
