About this tour
Captain Gerry runs this Cinque Terre and Portovenere full-day boat tour on a traditional 9-metre Ligurian gozzo, with no more than 12 guests aboard and about seven and a half hours at sea. The boat leaves from La Spezia or Portovenere and covers the Gulf of Poets as well as the Cinque Terre coast.
The route passes Portovenere and Palmaria Island, with Doria Castle and the Church of San Pietro, then Byron's Cave, the red cliffs and Monesteroli Bay, reachable only by boat and used for a swim. The five Cinque Terre villages are seen from the water. Three or four stops in sheltered bays of the marine park leave time to swim and snorkel, with equipment free of charge, and the bolder can try the optional Cufaniello Jump, the captain's cannonball dive.
- Portovenere and Palmaria
- Byron's Cave and the red cliffs
- Monesteroli Bay for a swim
- Monterosso al Mare, with an hour of free time
Onboard there is music, a Ligurian aperitivo with handmade focaccia (onion, cherry tomato, olives) and an open bar with prosecco, water and soft drinks. The tour can end in Monterosso, the last town visited. Anyone prone to seasickness should bring a remedy, and hotel pickup is not included.
