About this tour
The Lake Bled and Ljubljana tour from Trieste lasts about seven hours and starts with a guide at your side in the Slovenian capital. The talk covers the cultural, economic and political history of the city, as seen in the old town's mix of ancient and modern buildings.
A lot of what you see was shaped by the architect Jože Plečnik, who left his mark on Ljubljana's best-known bridges, squares and parks. The walk takes in:
- the Town Hall
- the stone lamps of the Triple Bridge
- the Cobblers' Bridge, linking two parts of the medieval heart
- Ljubljana Cathedral and the Baroque Robba Fountain
- Prešeren Square and its buildings
The second half moves to the Alpine town of Bled. There you walk by the lake that surrounds Bled Island and a Gothic church that honours the Assumption of Mary, and look up at Bled Castle on its cliff. Between the sights comes a slice of kremšnita, the vanilla and custard cream cake.
Guide, transport and insurance are included. The pletna boat, the entrance to both castles and food and drinks are not.
