The bookstore was founded by the Torrini brothers, whose dramatic story inspired Tozzi's novel "Three Crosses." It was subsequently acquired by the Ticci family, who kept it in business until 1948 when the Giubbi took over, retaining the original name. The historical location was in Banchi di Sopra, 44, but in 1983 the bookstore was moved to its current location. In its current location, a former carriage depot of the Rozzi Academy building, there are single-block marble columns from the 18th century.
