The Church was built around the year 1273 for Armenian monks staying in nearby buildings. Inside are important 13th century frescoes and votive images from the 14th century and 15th century.
In the 16th century the building complex became a hospice before being ceded in perpetual lease to the Oddi until 1820. Today the church is under restoration.
