Learn how Parmigiano Reggiano is made in a family-run cheese factory near Parma: guided visit, aging room, food tasting of different aging periods, and traditional lunch
What lies behind a simple piece of Parmigiano Reggiano? A world of ancient gestures, intense aromas, and authentic flavors. With this experience in a family-run dairy near Parma, you will enter the heart of one of Italy's most beloved gastronomic specialties, enjoying a complete journey through production, food tasting, and traditional cuisine.
The guided visit takes you on a journey to discover the different stages of cheese making. Depending on the day's production schedule, you may also have the opportunity to see the cheesemakers at work as a new wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano is created. You will then continue to the salting room and the evocative aging warehouse, where hundreds of wheels rest and slowly mature, creating a fascinating setting steeped in history.
After the visit, the experience continues with a moment dedicated to taste: a food tasting of Parmigiano at different stages of aging, served with pear-infused balsamic vinegar and Prosciutto crudo di Parma PDO, crostini with Parmigiano cream, grissini (breadsticks), water and wine or a soft drink for minors. A tasting designed to allow you to appreciate the different aromatic nuances of the product that is the symbol of the territory.
Afterwards, you'll sit down for a full lunch with traditional dishes, prepared entirely by the dairy's in-house kitchen. The menu includes a first course of your choice from the selection, a second course of meat with the traditional Rosa di Parma and roasted potatoes, homemade focaccia, water and 1 glass of wine. It's the perfect way to complete the experience with the authentic flavors of Parma cuisine, in a genuine and homely setting.
