It was built in 1914, and it was the first building built in Piazza Antonello after the earthquake of 1908. On its façade, it has a neoclassic arcade, matching the other buildings of the square.
The building, designed by the architect V. Mariani, has, on the first floor, peculiar double-lancet windows, while on the wall of the arcade, we can admire interesting stucco works in art-nouveau style, which represent allegories about telecommunications. In the interior, there is a big quadriporticoed courtyard, similar to the cloister of San Domenico monastery, destroyed during the earthquake of 1908.
Today the structure belongs to the University of Messina and hosts its offices.
