The Antica Tipografia Biagini has elected to work only with highest-quality materials, such as Amalfi paper, which is perfect for printing with an old Leipzig 1850 printer or a Saroglia from the last century.
They decided to play no part in the current homogenisation of the art of printing, and they have no truck with low-cost products, which they consider to be poor in both aesthetic and qualitative terms.
The care taken over every single product they make is exemplified by the fact that the ink used for wedding invitations is created on a case-by-case basis to fulfil the specific wishes of the customer, and they use only the finest paper, which they bind by hand, using time-honoured techniques and materials.
They use Heidelberg Stella printers – which represent the apex of typographic engineering – to print on smooth Bristol paper, using a range of stereotypes, some dating from the last century.
The charm of their exceptionally stylish printed products derives from the use of materials that have a unique identity and feel. The forty-year experience of Roberto, one of the last typographers – true experts in hot metal typesetting and the use of stereotypes – is a crucial element in the small team of craftspeople who have chosen to carry forward this ancient art.
