The State Library of Lucca is under the Ministry for Cultural Activities and is headquartered today in the former Convent of Santa Maria Corteorlandini in the historic center of the city.
Worth a visit the beautiful hall seventeenth-century named "of Santa Maria the black", located on the top floor of the building.
Enriched with funds of Ecclesiastical Libraries in Lucca, today the library continues to increase the collections in the traditional areas of documentation of Italian culture, highlighting in particular the culture of Lucca, and through purchase, donations and printing rights for the province of Lucca.
The Library is open to all people over 14 years.
