The museum, housed in the Palazzo Ducale, takes its name from the Florentine photographer and avid collector Paolo Cresci. It preserves and exhibits an exceptional and varied documentary material on emigration since the unification of Italy.
Through handwritten letters, photographs, passports and other public and private documents can trace the migratory experience in the most important stages and most common vicissitudes: by the living conditions of those who decided to emigrate to the preparations for departure, travel, to the arrival in the new country, looking for a job, the life lived with your feet in "Merica" and the heart in Italy.
Objectives of the museum and archive supported by Paolo Cresci Foundation are the study and dissemination of the history of migration offering to the country, no longer a land of emigration but of immigration, the civic values of tolerance and those that arise from constructive interaction between different cultures.
