Accademia Gallery Timed Entry Ticket with Audio App

With an Accademia Gallery timed entry ticket your slot is booked in advance, so you spend the visit looking at Michelangelo's David, a marble giant almost 5.2 metres tall, rather than working out how to get in. Inside, the statue shares the building with the unfinished Prisoners and a St. Matthew, figures that seem to be still pulling themselves out of the stone.

David was long a symbol of Florence's independence, a small republic surrounded by stronger neighbours and shadowed by the Medici family. A digital audio guide, whose instructions arrive with your booking confirmation, tells these stories as you go.

• Michelangelo's David and his unfinished Prisoners
• Side rooms in two former convents, filled with works from the city's art academies and from closed religious houses
• Sculptures by Bartolini and other masters
• Old musical instruments that came from the Cherubini Conservatory

Good to know: once booked, your day and slot cannot be swapped. Anyone who accompanies you needs their own ticket, and a live guide is not part of this option. It suits independent visitors who want a fixed entrance time and a commentary they can follow at their own speed.
