This e-bike tour to Acaya Castle takes about three and a half hours and starts in the morning. You leave from the centre of Lecce and pedal between olive groves and country lanes towards the Adriatic, with the first stop at the sea in San Cataldo.
From the coast the route bends inland to Acaya, a historic fortified village. Take a break to look at its medieval walls and calm stone streets. Inside the Acaya Castle you are served a Salento brunch: sweets, cheeses, cured meats and country bread.
After the meal a tour inside the castle tells you about its history. Then you climb back on the bike for the ride to Lecce, with the olive trees lit from behind along the way.
