At the end of the seventeenth century the building was owned by the Bishop Domenico Antonio Bernardini (1645-1723). Later it was expanded and modernized by the grandson, who changed the facades, redesigned the interior, the main staircase and the magnificent atrium. In 1759 after the death of the owner's, his wife Saveria Bozzicorso continued the work without completing them. The building was sold in 1836 to the Mascoli family and then in 1892 to the Andretta family, who completed the unfinished project of Bernardini, with the raising of the second floor and the construction of the building that serves as the backdrop instead of the atrium garden.
