How to get to Lunigiana

By bus

The Lunigiana is served by buses that depart mainly from Massa and from Sarzana and that connect the different countries of the area. Consult the schedule directly on the site of the Autolinee Toscana Nord (Bus Northern Tuscany).
By train

The Lunigiana is on the railway lines Milan-Livorno, Genoa-Parma-Bologna, Ventimiglia–Pisa-Rome. The stations are: Aulla, Villafranca -Bagnone, Pontremoli, Casola Lunigiana, Tresana, Filattiera, Fivizzano. View timetable on the website of the State Railways.
By car

Coming from the North, from the A7 Milan-Genoa motorway, take the A12 Genoa-Rosignano to La Spezia, from here take the motorway Cisa A15 Parma-La Spezia and exit at Pontremoli - Aulla. Coming from the South, from the motorway A12 Genoa-Rosignano direction Genova, take the A15 Cisa motorway in the direction of Parma, to the exits of Pontremoli - Aulla. Suggested exits to proceed later on state roads also Sarzana and Santo Stefano Magra on the A12.

To pass through the whole Lunigiana is undoubtedly a need to organize with the car: the area is very large and some towns and villages are not otherwise reachable. It should also be noted that, after leaving the highway, the road network is characterized mostly by small, winding mountain roads, definitely not suitable for those who suffer from car sickness. In winter the Lunigiana area can be a lot of moist: traveling during this period it is advisable to bring along waterproof jacket, rubber shoes and umbrella...better to be organized, you never know!
