Opened in 1967, the Military Memorial of Overseas Deaths, is located on the suburbs of Bari, on the road to Brindisi. The structure, simple and sober, houses the remains of over 70,000 Italian fallen in a foreign land
Drawn by the magical pen of Lt. Col. of Alpine Guastatori Engineers Paul Caccia Dominioni of Sillavengo, the complex is very similar to another memorial built in Tripoli (Lybia).
Close to the porch a Historical Museum recalls briefly the various stages of World War II, showing lot of documents, photographs, sketches, uniforms, weapons, relics and personal effects.
At sunset, nine solemn tolling of a great bell, donated by veterans associations remind all the fallen, as is engraved in h bronze: "victi vivimus".
