The Municipal Theater of Vicenza was designed by architect Gino Valle and was inaugurated on 10 December 2007. The total building area is 5500 square meters.
The exterior is characterized by a coating of exposed brick and white Vicenza stone bands that interact with neighboring Scaliger walls .
Hallmark of the building is the large entrance gate parallel to the road - a "fatal blow", as he called Gino Valle - leading from the square to the foyer through an inclined ramp.
The interior is the intersection of two rooms oriented in opposite directions and inserted into a large cylindrical volume: the upper main hall, with 910 seats (of which 10 are for disabled) and the lower, with 380 seats and independent access too.
The main room is equipped with fly tower and orchestra of 80 musicians, projection booth and control room.
The Municipal Theatre proposes between October and May concerts of chamber and symphonic music, drama, dance, performances and meetings.
The seasons of dance and drama, produced in collaboration with Arteven, are characterized by differentiated products in the genres and inspiration.
The musical season, in collaboration with the Society of the Quartet for the concert and with the Orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico for the symphony, offers great international performers and young talents.
