Ferry from Sorrento to Amalfi and Positano by Hydrofoil

This ferry trip from Sorrento to Amalfi and Positano lets you see the Amalfi Coast from the water and leaves the traffic on the road behind. It is a ticket, not a guided tour, so the day is yours: the boat takes you to the two towns and brings you back, and you decide what to do in between.

There are two ways to build the day, and the choice is about which town gets more of your time. One goes to Amalfi first and then Positano, the other the other way round. In either case you get several hours in each place, enough for a proper walk.

• In Amalfi: the Cathedral of St Andrew, the Valle delle Ferriere, artisan shops, the old paper mills and the Paper Museum
• In Positano: the colourful houses, Santa Maria Assunta church, fashion boutiques, stairways to the sea and the beaches

On board you can sit on the outdoor deck in the sun or in the air-conditioned cabin, although the boat can change and a deck seat is not guaranteed. The captain may cancel at the last minute because of the weather. Food, drinks and the way to the departure point are not included. The whole outing is about eight hours.
