The Church of San Giovanni Battista in San Domenico stands on the edge of the historic center of Savona, at the intersection of the main nineteenth-century artery (Via Paleocapa) and what was the main road axis of the medieval historic center.
The church is divided into three naves, with a central octagonal dome and two smaller domes over the chapels located at the head of the side naves. The Baroque façade dates back to the first half of the 18th century. The interior is richly decorated and features numerous works of art.
Among the artists who worked in this church or whose works are preserved there, we recall: Giovanni Battista Bicchio, Paolo Gerolamo Brusco, Lazzaro De Maestri, Bartolomeo Guidobono, Hans Memling, Veronica Murialdo, Tommaso Orsolino, Teramo Piaggio, Paolo Gerolamo Piola, Giovanni Agostino Ratti, Carlo Giuseppe Ratti, Raffaele Resio, Stefano Robatto, Francesco Schiaffino and Antonio Semino.
