At the time it was the third in width (121 x 23 m) in the world ranking: the first two were two bridges of Paris. Between 1953 and 1956 it has been carefully restored by architect Giulio Krall and the two original metallic bays have been enlarged e rebuilt in reinforced concrete.
Its structure is now formed by two diminished arches e from its parapet it is possible to admire the Tiber island. On the left riverside, near the bridge, there was once the Renella beach, with the typical bathhouses.
