Borgo Stretto (also simply called by Pisans "Borgo") is one of the busiest shopping streets in the city. Characterised by arcades and buildings of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries,it is a narrow road (in Italian "Stretto") that leads from the river Arno (Piazza Garibaldi) to Via Oberdan (also called "Borgo Largo"). It is the heart of the northern part of the city, called "Tramontana".
Close to Piazza del Pozzetto there is a wooden tabernacle with a copy of the Madonna dei Vetturini (Our Lady of Coachmen) by Nino Pisano (the original is preserved in the Museum of San Matteo).
