Founded in 1953 by Luciano Dianin, this historic shop in Padua was known for the selling of shoemaker products, both wholesale and retail. Since 1968, it also sells small leather items, such as belts, wallets, document folders or travel bags. The shop is now ran by the son, Alberto, who can boast of being the only true umbrella repairer in Padua: in 2005, this umbrella repair service, earned him the 'City of Padua' award for ancient crafts.
Today, as in the past, Casa del cuoio retails heel raisers, shoe- socks, buckles, leathers and shoe cleaning products, as well as sofas, armchairs and car interiors, but also modern leather accessories and useful and amusing gift ideas, like jewel cases. In addition to the mending of umbrellas, the shop also specialises in the making of belts in leather, suede and fabric.
