Palazzo Angeli, between Prato della Valle and via Umberto I, hosts a unique museum in Italy and the world.
It is a collection of images and devices for viewing or projecting them; these devices became extremely popular starting from the 18th century and were widespread in Europe and the world, at the core of public and private shows, which delighted and amazed both common people and kings with their courts. In the two centuries when science and technology had huge impulse and progress, each new discovery or scientific intuition in the realm of optics and vision was immediately given great relevance, and was made known to the public by the precursors of the Lumière Brothers.
The principles of the Pre-Cinema visions are those we still find in TV animations or in images giving the illusion of being tridimensional. Exactly for this mingling of art and science, the Museum makes possible an extremely fascinating journey onto a world that is at the same time old and alive.
