Journey back in time to the 16th century, nestled in the tranquil Valcuvia valley near Varese and Lake Maggiore. Imagine the Della Porta family – local landowners with humble roots and grand aspirations – settling into their rustic country estate. Picture its simple charm: farm buildings, a bustling wine press and cellar, and the rhythmic whir of a silk mill. Centuries later, in the 18th century, this humble abode underwent a magnificent transformation. The wedding of Giovan Angelo III Della Porta and Countess Isabella Giulini of Milan sparked a renovation, turning the estate into a stunning *villa di delizia*. Today, you can step into the opulent world of their summer retreat. Explore lavish salons and halls, admire vibrant frescoes and trompe l'oeil artistry depicting mythological scenes and allegorical tales, and marvel at the exquisite Rococo detail, even down to the floral garlands adorning the doors. While much of the original furniture is gone, a few precious pieces remain, including a breathtaking golden damask silk canopy bed and antique bookcases housing the family archives. Generous donations have helped recreate the atmosphere of an 18th-century aristocratic home, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the past. Gaze out from the windows and be captivated by the breathtaking Italian garden. A series of stone terraces climb a hillside, culminating in a magnificent “theatre” – a sweeping lawn, a tranquil fishpond, and a path leading to a panoramic viewpoint offering unforgettable vistas. The 19th century saw Senator Camillo Bozzolo rescue the villa from decline, leaving behind cherished family memories and a rich library that still echoes with his legacy. Today, meticulously restored, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo stands as a captivating testament to history. Spend a day exploring its enchanting grounds, admiring its opulent interiors, and savoring a delightful meal at the on-site restaurant, "La cucina di casa." It's an unforgettable Italian experience.
