How to get to Viareggio

By bus

Viareggio is linked with buses to almost all the major centers of Tuscany. Before you leave, check your itinerary respect to the departure station.
By train

Viareggio railway station is on the coastlines Ventimiglia-Turin-Genoa-Pisa-Rome and on Milan-Livorno. Inland Viareggio is connected with the lines Pisa-Florence and Lucca-Florence. From Florence the trains have a frequency of about one hour with one hour's journey through Pisa and one hour and thirty minutes through Lucca.
By car

From the north, take the A1 Autostrada del Sole motorway to Parma, continue on the A15 up to Santo Stefano Magra and then on the A12 Genoa-Rosignano, direction Rosignano, up to exit at Viareggio. Warning: Do not be fooled by appearances: the right exit is Viareggio, not Versilia! From the south you can take the A1 Motorway and once arrived in Florence, take the A11 motorway to Viareggio. From the coast, take the public Aurelia road to Rosignano, then the A12, direction Genoa and exit at Viareggio.
By boat

If you own a boat, you can dock at the marina.

Viareggio people are usually very outspoken and a bit rough as many of the Tuscans, you immediately enter into good-natured confidence: do not take offense! For those who decide to go to Viareggio during the carnival is important to remember that wearing the mask here is almost a requirement: the advice is to gear up, even in a simple and improvised way, in order to not feeling a fish out of water! Also during the carnival, coming by car you have to be careful because many of the city parkings, usually free, are placed temporarily in charge. For music lovers who want to attend one of the works of Puccini Festival, is recommended that you organize and start on time: the only avenue that reaches the theater on Lake Massaciuccoli (Viale Marconi) is often a long queue of cars!
