We'll visit two of the nine captivating villages that make up the "Salentine Greek" region, home to the Griko people, a fascinating ethnic Greek community. Our first stop offers an unforgettable guided tour of an ancient underground olive oil mill – a truly authentic experience. Then, it's time for a well-deserved break at a local bar, where you can savor the rich taste of traditional Leccese coffee and the delectable pasticciotto pastry. Next, we'll journey to a magnificent medieval castle (built in 1519) belonging to the Monti family. Admire its unique blend of military and feudal architecture, surrounded by beautiful Renaissance and medieval round towers. Our final stop is the breathtaking Basilica di Santa Caterina d'Alessandria in Galatina, one of Puglia's most stunning basilicas. To round off your day, you can choose between a delightful Primitivo wine tasting or a traditional Puglian lunch (not included, but available upon request). After an hour of free time to explore Galatina, we'll relax on a 45-minute train journey back to Lecce. The train station is about a kilometer from your starting point in Lecce.
