By train

Portovenere does not have a railway station. Reach the station La Spezia Centrale and then take the bus or if you want to take a nice walk, proceed on foot (about 1 hour). La Spezia Centrale is located on the lines: Torino - Genoa - Rome / Bologna - Parma – Genoa / Florence - Pisa – Genoa / Milan - Genoa – Pisa.
By car

Whether you arrive from Genoa (highway A12), Parma (highway A15) or Pisa (highway A12), exit at Santo Stefano Magra, from Via Carducci continue for about 15km towards Portovenere. Given the few parkings (charges apply including those of the hotel) and the road that is very narrow and winding, it is advisable to leave your car in La Spezia. In the numerous car parks in the city is active a free shuttle service to get to the bus stops that will take you in 30 minutes to Portovenere.
By boat

The ferries to Portovenere depart from the moorings of La Spezia and from the Cinque Terre towns. The timetables, routes and fares up to date, can be viewed directly from the website of the shipping company of Gulf of Poets. If you leave from La Spezia, the landing is about a 15 minute walk from the train station, the cost of the ticket is €4 one way and €7 round trip (Sundays and holidays there is a surcharge of 3-5€). If you start from Levanto or Riomaggiore, the ticket, which includes a tour of the islands, is respectively €25 and €22 (Sundays and holidays there is a surcharge of 3-5€). Remember: the coast itself is a sight to see, take place on the east side!

As all the towns in Liguria, we advise you not to visit Portovenere wearing a heel 12! Flat and comfortable shoes will allow you to venture in without too much effort in the up and down of the alleys.
For those traveling with babies or very young children, better equip themselves with baby carriers, baby backpacks bags avoiding strollers more difficult to handle in the stairs of some alleys.
If you love long walks, you can not miss the charming Sentiero Azzurro (blue path) that touches the villages of the Cinque Terre, or the path that connects Portovenere to Riomaggiore (approximately 4 hours).
