The Executioner's house, also called the house of Agrippa, is a building in the historic center of Genoa, dating from the eleventh or the twelfth century, situated in the district of Molo , at the eastern end of the Piazza Cavour, opposite the fish market. The current building is only a small portion of the original, which is spread over several floors and probably stretched across the width of the square, between the trench "mura delle Grazie" and the thirteenth Malapaga jail, where were held insolvent debtors, which was demolished at the beginning of the twentieth century and replaced by a barracks of the Guardia di Finanza. After a long period of neglect, the Ministry of Heritage and Culture has given in concession to the Company Compagnia Balestrieri del Mandraccio, who after two years of architectural salvage in 1990 has opened its head office , furnishing the interior making inside century style style and exhibition of weapons, armor and medieval costumes that can be visited by the public. The building, which is believed to be used for residential purposes, has no particular architectural interest , but is best known because it was traditionally considered the home of the person who performed the death penalty at the time of the Republic of Genoa and this was commonly called Executioner's house. This popular tradition stemmed from the fact that the executions took place near the Molo Vecchio.
