A boat tour of the Polignano a Mare caves from the port of San Vito shows you the coast from the sea in roughly 90 minutes. The speedboat sails past the cliffs and into a string of grottoes, among them Grotta Azzurra, Grotta Piana, Cala Paura and Grotta Palazzese.
The route also takes in places such as the Domenico Modugno monument, the San Vito Abbey area and the beach of Lama Monachile, so you get the whole shoreline in a single loop. The skipper makes several stops in sheltered coves, where ladders and floats for adults and children make it easy to get into the water.
Between swims you can relax on deck in the sun or under a parasol, with a glass of Prosecco-based aperitif in hand. The tour ends back at the departure point.
