It is the largest green area of the city, the oldest to be owned by the city and one of the few to be no limitation of access times (the park is free of fences).
It is located on the slopes of Monte Berico, near the railway station. Divided into two areas from viale Roma, this park has in the west a series of walkways that surround some statues (one of Antonio Pigafetta, one of Fogazzaro) and the large playground in via dell'Ippodromo. On the eastside is the characteristic viale Dalmatia (completely retrained in recent years), where, in September, carousels are placed for the feast of the saint patron.
The origins of the name are uncertain: some say it derives from the dialect word "marso", which means a wetland, marsh due the floods of the river Retrone.
