About this tour
An Otranto and Torre dell'Orso day tour is an easy way to see four sides of the Salento coast without driving yourself. A professional driver collects you in Gallipoli or at an agreed point in the Lecce province and takes you to the coast in an air-conditioned van, with the whole day, about eight hours, set aside for the trip.
The first stop is Otranto, where you walk the lanes of the old centre. Inside the cathedral the floor is covered by a famous mosaic, and the medieval Aragonese Castle stands close by. From there the van continues to Torre dell'Orso, a beach of fine sand and turquoise water where you can swim or simply sit and rest.
The van then brings you to the Faraglioni of Sant'Andrea, rock stacks rising out of the Adriatic, a good place for photos. The last stop is the Grotta della Poesia, a natural cave with clear water, before the drive back to your starting point.
