The Episcopal Seminary is the institution of the Diocese of Vicenza in which future priests for the service of the same diocese are trained. It is divided into two entities, the Minor Seminary and the Major Seminary.
The first seminary was founded in 1566 and is located in Via San Francesco Vecchio. The current, commissioned by Bishop John Joseph Cappellari to replace the previous was inaugurated on November 4, 1854. In the first decade of life it was often used by the Austrian troops in 1859 and from 1860 to 1863. From the sixties theology has gone into the new building called the Major Seminary.
The historical museum of natural science of the Episcopal Seminary, located at the Major Seminary in Borgo Santa Lucia 43, is open during the school year (January to June, September to December), on reservation.
