The Church of Santa Brigida was founded by the Irish bishop Donato and dedicated to Saint Brigida, both followers of Saint Columban, founder of the Bobbio monastery; it had a hospice for pilgrims from the north on the Via Francigena or Romea.
Rebuilt in the mid-12th century, it has a terracotta facade divided into three parts by truncated pilasters and with three pointed pinnacles, following a redesign by Camillo Guidotti, an architect who rebuilt with stylistic criteria rather than a restorer with philological criteria, between 1898 and 1905. The bell tower was rebuilt fifty years later.
The interior has three naves of Romanesque design with lobed terracotta pillars (which recall those of Sant'Eufemia and Santi Nazzaro and Celso), but has undergone arbitrary manipulations in the Gothic style, which have modified the original physiognomy; scattered throughout the church are various interesting sacred paintings by local artists.
