Piazza Garraffello is a square located in the La Loggia or Mandamento Castello a Mare neighborhood in the historic center of Palermo, and is the heart of the Vucciria market.
Since 2008, the square, which is the stage for the market during the day, has become a nighttime gathering place and open-air disco, with Reggae Muffn', Trash, Funk, Hip Pop, Hard techno, Breakbeat, Dubstep sounds and characteristic gastronomy. In the center of the square there is the homonymous fountain located on site in the sixteenth century.
On February 5, 2014, after a few days of heavy rain, part of one of the buildings facing the square collapsed, causing the temporary closure of all activities in the square. Following this event, work immediately began to secure the entire square.
Among the monumental buildings that overlook it are Palazzo Rammacca and Palazzo Lo Mazzarino.
