The Palazzo Gravina di Palagonia was enlarged and embellished in the 18th century, although the building's current sumptuous forms date back to the years between 1810 and 1857.
The project draws inspiration from examples of the Marvuglia style. The neoclassical facade is centered around an elaborate scheme, including the portal with pairs of coupled columns and the upper balcony with pairs of caryatids. The interiors, decorated with neoclassical stucco work, also demonstrate great attention to detail.
The palace was severely damaged by the bombings of World War II and the earthquake of 1968. These destructions necessitated an intervention in the early 1980s by the Municipality, which is now the owner of the palace. The intervention was focused on the complete restoration of the structure.
It is now home to municipal offices.
