In the complex of Sant'Anna alla Misericordia, one can still distinguish the architectural features of a 15th-century private residence and a 17th-century convent.
The palace was built around 1480 by the Catalan merchant Gaspare Bonet and quickly became a model for aristocratic residential construction. In 1618, the palace was sold to the Franciscan Fathers, necessitating an expansion of the building with the construction of the convent, which continued throughout the 17th century.
