Corso Italia is one of the busiest shopping streets in Pisa. It is an entirely pedestrian area that runs from the train station to the city center. At the end of the road, near the Lungarno are the Logge dei Banchi, grand portico of 12 columns built in 1603-05 by Cosimo Pugliani, perhaps designed by Buontalenti and used as location for the wool and silk markets (and recently for local food exhibitions and bookstalls too). The road ends with the main bridge of the city, Ponte di Mezzo, which offers a spectacular view of the riversides.
