Once belonging to the Galletti and La Grua, princes of Fiumesalato, the palace dates back to the 16th century, but was restored in a hybrid neo-Gothic style in 1866 by the architect Tommaso Di Chiara, who lavished on it the entire repertoire of possible stylistic references, such as the crenellated tower and the pierced work of the openings.
The innermost part of the building preserves important vestiges of the 16th century: in the Neve alleyway there is a multi-centered arched portal with a frame; in the Palagonia alleyway there remains a Renaissance marble portal, with a coat of arms at the center of the architrave, and some windows of the same era with marble frames, decorated with carvings in plant and naturalistic motifs.
The atrium is covered by a beautiful late-Gothic ribbed vault with pendulous keys; it opens onto small doorways with elegantly carved architraves.
Today it houses the offices of the City Council.
