The year was 1925 when, in via San Martino e Solferino, Salvatore Colombo opened in Padua a second-hand military outlet, then moved to via Soncin. In 1938, his son Bruno added wholesale and retail fabric selling, a business that then became so overwhelming that the shop was named Mercato del Tessuto (Fabric Market). In 1960, the business was taken over by Lina Toninello, Bruno's wife, awarded Excellent Paduan by the city and, in 1999, her son Danilo became the new owner and moved the shop to the current location in via Roma 21, for space purpose.
In the spacious premises, the customer is guided through thousands of pieces of cloth with different designs and fabrics, pure silk, cashmere, cotton... Fabrics for tailors, and also for furnishing and household linen, from sheets to sofa covers, from quilts to pillows, fill the shelves. The roominess of the premises make it possible to find everything in every season, fabrics for coats in summer and for blouses in winter.
