Sea and Mountains, Boutiques and Discotheques

Mountain, hill, lake, beach and sea...this is the perfect ecosystem that characterizes the Versilia, a stretch of Tuscan coastline protected by the imposing backdrop of the Apuan Alps mitigating the climate throughout the year.
In Versilia there's something for everyone! You can spend a day at the seaside in one of the many equipped establishments that characterize the beach from Viareggio to Forte dei Marmi, you can take a walk or bike on the promenades that run all along the coast or immerse yourself into the villages, into the churches, and in the remains of castles and historic houses characterizing the hillsides. For art lovers it is a must to arrive to Pietrasanta among the historical bronze foundries and workshops of marble sculpture, or wander around exploring the contemporary vanguards in one of the many galleries open in the center.
For those who want to hike nothing is better than one of the trails in the Park of the Apuan Alps following the paths starting from the hills of Camaiore or from those of Seravezza and Stazzema. After an active day at the beach or in the mountains, you can relax with a meal in one of the many restaurants (for all tastes, for all budgets) and then off again by choosing from a walk in the moonlight on the Massaciuccoli lake, a little shopping between Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi, the unbridled nightlife of the gay frendly locals of Torre del Lago or the radical chic of the historic clubs of Marina di Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi.
In summer there are many events, concerts and exhibitions that can be found throughout the area. In winter it is a must the Carnival of Viareggio, a historic event which attracts tens of thousands of people on the sea avenues transformed for the occasion into a big carnival scene.
