Villa Grismondi Finardi and its historical park lie in Bergamo where the valleys meet and can be reached easily from the A4 exit following the indications for the Stadium for about 1 km along the ring road, or from the Orio al Serio airport. The villa is in what used to be called “Redona di Bergamo”, very close to the centre of the new town.
The Villa is of very ancient origin: in fact, conserved in the courtyard entry are the remains of interesting religious frescos dating from the 14th and 15th centuries. The complex is to be found at the centre of Quartiere Finardi which took its name from the family that still live in the Villa in this elegant residential area.
Its architectural style is inspired by sober lines and the restructuring done in the 19th century by Giacomo Bianconi, student of Piermarini, enriched the reception rooms especially with precious frescos attributed to the Milan painter Luigi Scrosati. Palazzo Dominicale della Villa is surrounded by a large park with an English lawn, a grotto, gravel walks, ancient rare trees and one part that used to be a chapel but now renovated as a space for conventions, meetings and private parties, and provided with rest rooms.
