Opened in 1936, it was called as the Italian liner "Rex" that won the Blue Ribbon recognition (which is attributed to the ship passengers who holds the record for average speed of crossing the Atlantic Ocean, in regular service and non-stop refueling).
Excellent bakery and cafe in the elegant Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Rex offers a range of products strictly handmade and has been rewarded for its excellent strawberry meringue.
Try its delicious cream horns and the typical brioches (in the form of sandwiches "with the ball").
In its windows you can admire and enjoy Baba Reali, pastiere ricotta and wheat, profiteroles, meringue, Mont Blanc, walnut cakes, fruit tarts, diplomatic forest fruit, Malakoff cups, yarrow and endless specialty fresh and dried pastries.
Rex is famous for the creation of the "Sweet Love", exclusive crunchy dark chocolate sweet stuffed with chocolate cream liqueur.
During Christmas and Easter holidays you can also find panettone and scarcelle, typical biscuits in the shape of a dove decorated with boiled eggs (prepared according to traditional recipes) and other traditional desserts as the cartellate al vincotto (with wine and honey), the calzoncelli with marzipan, nougat, macaroons, pinolati, castagnelle, mostaccioli, marzipan and glazed taralli.
