At 6 km from the city you can reach the "Visitors Centre Lamalunga" where, through a virtual 3D tour, you can see a reconstruction of the Man of Altamura fossil in its natural environment of the cave; it's a unique  skeleton of a prehistoric hominid in complete with every bone and cartilage components. It is a specimen of Homo Neanderthal dated between 170 and 150 thousand years ago, perfectly preserved thanks to the particular conditions of the cave.
