Escape the ordinary and embark on a captivating day trip from Siena, plunging into the postcard-perfect landscapes and flavors of Tuscany! Prepare to be enchanted as we explore charming villages, rolling vineyards, and historic fortresses. Our first stop is the unforgettable San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a city crowned with medieval towers that pierce the sky. Wander through its historic heart, a treasure trove of artisan workshops and ancient palaces. This unique town is also the exclusive home of Vernaccia, a celebrated white wine renowned for its exceptional quality – it was the very first Italian wine to earn the prestigious DOCG status! Leaving San Gimignano, we'll journey to a traditional Chianti wine estate. Here, you'll be guided through the cellars, uncovering the secrets of winemaking from grape to glass. Of course, no visit is complete without a tasting! You'll savor four distinct wines, including Spumante Cuvée, Chianti Riserva, Toscana Rosso, and Spumante Rosé, learning to discern the subtle nuances of each. To complement the wines, indulge in a delectable spread of salami, three exquisite extra-virgin olive oils (Frantoiano Biologico, White Truffle, and Chili Pepper), and two balsamic vinegars (of Modena and Lacrime Viola), all served with crusty bread. Next, we'll venture into the breathtaking Val d'Orcia, another Tuscan gem recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our final destination is Montalcino, a hilltop town that commands stunning views of the surrounding Brunello vineyards – 1500 hectares that have earned this region worldwide acclaim. We'll visit a local wine cellar for a tasting of the legendary Brunello di Montalcino, another of Italy's pioneering DOCG wines. Our second winery visit includes a tour of the vineyards and production facilities, followed by a tasting session in one of the winery's panoramic tasting rooms. Here, you'll sample two IGT Toscana Rosso or Toscana Bianco wines, a DOC Rosso di Montalcino, and of course, a DOCG Brunello di Montalcino. This experience is enhanced by bruschetta drizzled with homemade olive oil, alongside a selection of regional cheeses and cured meats.
