Pompeii and Vesuvius Day Trip with Pizza Lunch

Seven hours or so, two sights and nothing to organise: this Pompeii and Vesuvius day trip from Naples collects you at your hotel, the cruise port or the railway station and brings you back to the same kinds of places in the late afternoon. You ride in a minivan or a bus, depending on the option you choose.

The first stop is Pompeii, the Roman town buried by ash and lapilli in 79 AD and preserved for almost 2,000 years. A licensed guide leads you to:

• the Lupanare
• the Greek Theatre
• the plaster casts of bodies caught by the eruption

Lunch is a typical Neapolitan pizza at a cafe in Pompeii, with a drink included. Then the vehicle climbs close to the summit of Vesuvius, the only active volcano on continental Europe, and a short walk leads to the lip of the crater, with the Bay of Naples spread out below.

Both entry tickets are included, and you choose between a live guide and an audio guide. For the Vesuvius part, only English is always guaranteed among the four languages offered. If the national park closes because of bad weather, the park ticket is refunded, or audio-guide visitors go to the MAP virtual museum in Pompeii. The tour does not suit people with limited mobility.
