Situated on the left of the Town Hall, this is one of the most elegant and characteristic 18th century buildings in Trieste. It was designed by Uldarico Moro in 1780 and makes use of, Rococo elements and assimilates them with the Neoclassicism of the Enlightenment. The building’s proportions are harmonious, simple in construction with elegant inventions, such as the balcony on the first floor. The building was commissioned by the merchant, Domenico Plenario, but was then called Pitteri after the family that lived there longest. The architect was also provided with an apartment there.
